The government has offered an 11 per cent increase which at the minimum wage, would amount to an increase of $7,345 per year.

Once again, the BCGEU, now known as the B.C. General Employees Union, probably because the former name B.C. Government Employees Union might offend the sensibilities of some members, is complaining that they are falling behind in their annual income and are no longer receiving appropriate wages to support themselves and their families.

After searching for the minimum wage for a BCGEU employee on the internet, I was informed that the lowliest employee received $66,768 per year. I, on the other hand, as a senior, and after over 50 years of employment, receive $23,294.20 per year. I could only imagine in my dreams what that would mean to a pensioner such as myself. Even an increase of 11 per cent of my annual income from CPP and OAS would be a blessing as I could certainly find a use for the additional $2562.36 that would amount to.

I apologize for boring you with details but hope you will understand when I find it difficult to sympathize with their requests.

The lowest wage is not in the mid 60,000s. I’m not going to argue against supporting seniors, but this seems like a weird and bizarre arguement to start. What a bizarre and unnecessary comparison to make.

The information is vastly in correct.
