O'Toole told his party's MPs and senators gathered for their first meeting under his leadership that those who are tearing down the statues of the country's founders are dooming Canada to forget the lessons of history.
O'Toole noted that Sen. Murray Sinclair, who led the Truth and Reconciliation Commission into the residential school system into which many Indigenous children were forced, has suggested instead that plaques be placed alongside such monuments to provide a more balanced look at history. He pledged Wednesday that his party will be a unifying force in the country and urged his MPs and senators to embrace a motto from his days in the Royal Canadian Air Force: through adversity to the stars.
Absent from a spot on his roster of main players is the lone other MP to challenge him for leadership, Derek Sloan. "I'm happy to be proud of the things that I stood for and to telegraph to the people that follow me that I'm still in their corner." "We're not itching for an election, we don't think this is the right time for an election," deputy party leader Candice Bergen said on her way into the caucus meeting Wednesday. The party's meeting Wednesday saw MPs and senators gathered in several different rooms, taking turns rotating through the main gathering.
MAGA never vote conservative ‘Canadians are very complacent. We can’t deny it here any longer — it’s just blatant,’
Spoken from a place of absolute privilege. I wouldn't expect Mr. O'Toole to understand in the slightest.
CANCEL this politician.
In the Irish Republic, you don't cancel a war to the death.
