Now winter is here, the fields frozen white. In a way, I hope that it’s a cold and hard one.

I remember home, when a winter like that meant a beautiful spring and summer would emerge from the cocoon. It takes time, a lot of time to cure ills that have been in my community for years.

Hopefully, the pain and hurt will fade, and James Smith and every other small community, Indigenous or not, will flower into warm days, sunshine and calm winds that will blow through beautiful shimmering sheaths.Share this article in your social network
