needs more time to consider information from a lengthy public hearing before making a final decision on a controversial campground proposal for Scots Bay.

After four hours, Mayor Peter Muttart said council had heard a lot of the same information presented at previous meetings, but “there has been some new information.” A prevailing sentiment among those who expressed concerns is they aren’t against the idea of a social enterprise campground or the applicants but are against the proposed location. Others expressed concerns over the public process involved, particularly relating to the level of community engagement on the part of the municipality.

Skaling, of Breiel Holdings Ltd., has applied for a development agreement that would allow for a campground at 5734 Highway 358. The subject property is about 98 acres, but not all the land would be used for the campground.
