Kaden Goodwin scored three times and Jett Mintenko had a five-point night to lead Kam River to its 10th straight win.

The Fighting Walleye on Sunday night fired a league record 104 shots at the visiting Kenora Islanders net and put up double digit goals for a third straight night to complete the sweep of their expansion opponent.

Kaden Goodwin scored three times and Jett Mintenko had two goals and three assists, leading Kam River to an 11-0 win in front of 453 fans at Norwest Arena. The Fighting Walleye outscored the Islanders 34-2 over the three games and it marked the fourth straight game that Kenora allowed 11 or more goals.

Carter Poddubny also scored twice, with singles going to Calebe Labelle, Edwin Liang, Braeden Duchesne and Daxton Lang.Kaden King took the loss while making 93 saves, also believed to be a Superior International Junior Hockey League record. Travis VanderZwaag was good on all 13 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the season and help the Fighting Walleye recapture sole possession of first place in the SIJHL at 34-9-1.The Thunder Bay North Stars were initially credited with 101 shots in a 2018 drubbing of the now defunct Minnesota Iron Rangers, but league officials later dialled back the total to 98.
