The bulk of the Jets' remaining cap space is likely going to be used to lock up their RFAs. But if the price is right, they could consider a depth forward or a replacement for Mason Appleton. WiebesWorld takes a closer look at their options ⤵️

WINNIPEG — Kevin Cheveldayoff didn’t want to risk waiting until free agency opened, so he made a pre-emptive strike instead.

Dillon’s arrival is expected to coincide with the departure of pending unrestricted free agents Derek Forbort and Tucker Poolman. The Jets had been interested in acquiring Dillon when he was a member of the San Jose Sharks, but they ended up with Dylan DeMelo prior to the NHL trade deadline in 2020. After waiving his no-trade clause at the deadline in 2018, Stasty chose to forego unrestricted free agency this time around and is taking a pay cut to remain in the fold.

But if the price is right, the Jets could consider a forward to provide some organizational depth that might push for a spot on the edges of the roster, or perhaps serve as a replacement for right-winger Mason Appleton — who landed with the Seattle Kraken.

Maple Leafs 2021 Free Agency Preview: Needs, targets, issuesUnder president Brendan Shanahan and general manager Kyle Dubas, the blueprint is clear as crystal -- and equally fragile. The Toronto Maple Leafs are a club that needs to contend now and, entering free agency, we see at least four spots that require NHL-ready talent, starting from the crease out. lukefoxjukebox Great read thanks for sharing lukefoxjukebox But the problem is stated by the second paragraph of your article: Dubas and Shanahan shot their wad on four players, and have to go bargain basement on everything else. This is not a formula for success.
