.ScottyMacThinks weighs in on Toronto's struggles at the plate and the futures of Marcus Stroman and Justin Smoak in his latest Jays Talk FAQ:

Stroman is going to be just fine, especially if he continues to pitch as he has through three starts this season. Per FanGraphs wins above replacement calculation, Stroman has been worth seven-tenths of a win to the Blue Jays already this season. Prorated over 33 starts, Stroman would be worth 7.7 wins.

Losing is annoying, I’m sure, to Stroman. But who enjoys losing? Stroman will not be traded for the sake of a trade. If he’s to be moved, the Blue Jays need to get a viable return, preferably pitching, which is ready to contribute or close to being ready to contribute to the big-league team.First of all, Smoak needs to get right. He was out of the starting lineup for the fourth time in five games on Tuesday thanks to a stiff neck.

ScottyMacThinks ...because management thought that throwing a stick of dynamite into the clubhouse for an instant rebuild would magically make things better for the team? All we have now (for the most part) is a team made up of junior players and little (big league) experience.😭

ScottyMacThinks Because they are junior C players. But they didn't lose yesterday!

Can Anthony Alford be relevant for Blue Jays 3 times a week? - Sportsnet.caBaseball Central’s Kevin Barker thinks Anthony Alford is very athletic in the outfield, but his inability to hit fastballs makes him question whether he’s an everyday player in the majors. a career .265 hitter in the minor leagues who has played 413 games with 432 strikeouts and 26 career homers. I agree with Kevin Barker but the reasons are obvious why Anthony Alford is not the same player he was before his concussion and broken hamate bone since his at bats have been limited while the Jays are trying to turn him into a dfferent hitter than he was.
