When inclusion turns into active exclusion, it isn’t fair anymore

At a glance, you’d think this means simply making sure that procedures are fair to everyone, regardless of background. But the Canada Research Chair program shows this can mean dismissing applicants outright if the quotas haven’t been met. Good intentions appear to have paved the way to mandated discrimination.Article content

Values attestations are making their way into job applications as well. A University of Ottawa job posting for a research chair in— that is, the study of chemical reactions — requires a demonstrated history of incorporating EDI and a statement about doing so. Researchers should be free to talk about their values, including those who don’t agree with EDI. Academic freedom is supposed to allow for diverse ideas. Yet in this case, only one way of thinking is eligible.

You might wonder if any professors oppose this kind of thing. Perhaps, but if promotions, funding and teaching positions are increasingly tied to their embrace of EDI, there’s a pretty big incentive to say nothing. Professors have families to feed, after all.Article content

Able bodied white men should be working the trades and construction! Let everyone else push paper.

Bodies evolved to bring new life or to kill hunt Blanket exercise- men women young old different strengths = roles EQ and IQ EQ Female ethics cooperation IQ Male ethics competition Survivor/Chess 1984 +Animal farm - Science- no race- 2 sexes X Y +parent-child

Yet no one points to workplace injuries- and pushing men into trades where they die 30 times the rate Look a percent female officers in military- 30% - now female fatalities 2/150 Government workers w definedpensions- 70/30 - Y not 50/50 50% females working at heights or KIA?

Discrimination is discrimination. It doesn't matter who is the victim.

Ugh. This is garbage.

Waiting for jordanbpeterson to pull the “told ya so!”

Because it reverse discrimination now . Funny how people bitch . When it the other side . But when they do it . It is justified 🙄🙄🙄🙄

When you hire based on artificial quotas you always leave the person selected wondering if they earned the position or were given it for other purposes. People they work with will be thinking the same.

This phenomenon has been happening all over for decades in Canada to one degree or another. It's blatant now.

Racism....they are racist. Simple really.

The right thing to do, is always the same right thing, to do, ... As in hiring some one for a job, would be hire the best qualified/impressed candidate. Not follow a different task, like getting the number of purple transgender employees to be some arbitrary value.

Because of DIE policies, identity politics and reverse racism. Merit doesnt matter anymore. Thats fine. White males will carve out success in other areas and be successful and then society will want to kick them out of that because of 'systemic oppression'.

Unless the position requires brawn able bodied white men need not apply. They are a thing from the past like the horse and buggy.

Universities really aren't institutions of learning, as much as institutions of indoctrination. There's no debate, there's memorizing a profs political points and saying it back to him or her to receive a passing grade.

Who would’ve thought the solution to bigotry was more bigotry. What if a white male identifies as a female of colour?

It should be the most qualified, regardless of race. Is that not how they hire? Are more qualified Caucasian men being passed over due to their race or not? And I dont just mean on paper, I realize there are personality traits that contribute to the best hire.

Cry more.

This is called a big heaping pile of crap....

Racist schools. The irony is unbelievable

Yo Jamie Sarkonak...here's the church here's the steeple you can't be racist against white people.

Omg won't somebody please think of the white people...ffs 🙄 Pass the fkn tissues

Because of course in their narrow world view, no white male ever has achieved their success due to merit.

I have a mixed feelings - from one side it is good to know that it isn't University choice, but a court decision, from the other side unclear what to do with it? Thank you for the explanation anyway! But that's really 😔.

Come on now! The “poor me white” guy narrative is a little silly. Said by a poor white guy

Maybe just blame all the able bodied white men that have all the other Canadian university jobs that you didn’t get also

Racism/White-Guilt.

Anyone who applied and was denied an interview should be fighting this as a Human Rights violation. Inclusion by exclusion is the new game.

I have stopped donating to universities. I think many others have also. They have become institutions of racism, censorship and indoctrination. A far cry from the institutions of higher learning they were intended to be. We need a complete overhaul of academia.

This just wrong! Why cannot they design a system that just hires on the basis of merit and talent regardless of race, religion, gender etc. We need to develop our best people not fill artificial bureaucratic quotas. Set up selection processes that are fair and balanced for all!

There is enough of those. Give other people a chance for once.

Why did universities refuse to hire able-bodied women and non-whites in the past? Talk about virtue signalling.

Universities breed communism, communism is a scurge worthy of impalment.

It isn’t just Universities. It’s system wide.

What old and tired nonsense is this?
