Nishit Parikh is the winnner of a Lotto Max jackpot in August and said he purchased the ticket from a Petro Canada on Markham Road in Scarborough about an hour before the draw closed.

It seems $55 million is all it takes for a Toronto resident to feel optimistic about home ownership in this city.

The 30-year-old project manager says his winning number is a combination of significant family dates but that it was an auto-generated line of numbers that won him the prize of a lifetime. “I saw the Big Winner screen, but didn’t believe it. I was looking at the zeroes, squinting my eyes to do a double take. I think my brain shutdown – I was trying to process what was happening,” Parikh said.
