When Mohamed arrived at the province house in Halifax, the first person she met was another recipient with whom she had completed her master’s at Mohamed added that sometimes it takes another person to see that you can do great things and go farther than you think you can. “We’ve switched things up this year so I can do more community outreach, which is a passion and a forte of mine,” she explained.“When I first started my role in education as a student support worker, my focus was African Nova Scotian students,” she said. “I worked in the junior high and high schools in the area, then I got my job with the NSCC and shifted my focus to college students in the black community.
Being involved in so many different organizations could be overwhelming, but Mohamed says she sometimes must pick and choose what she gives her time to.
