The Hurricanes and Ducks are in discussion about a trade involving Justin Faulk, according to FriedgeHNIC.

Something to keep an eye on: there have been ongoing conversations between CAR and ANA about a Justin Faulk trade, but there are still details to be worked out …Friedman added that the swap for the 27-year-old rearguard has been “intensely discussed,” although his contract includes a partial no-trade clause listing the Ducks.

Faulk has a partial NTC — which lists the Ducks — and it is believed ANA wishes to pursue an extension. No one will comment on the likelihood of it occurring, but it has been intensely discussedAnaheim also wants to pursue an extension with Faulk, whose six-year, $29-million contract expires next summer.

Faulk had 35 points in 82 games last season. He has recorded at least 30 points in six-straight campaigns and has 258 career points in 559 NHL games. The Hurricanes added to their already loaded D-corps last week, signing Gardiner, a longtime Toronto Maple Leaf, to a four-year deal.
