At this point we should just assume it’s best to not speak to pregnant women, women with babies, or women without babies and women who are not pregnant at all. Anything beyond a hello is inappropriate and likely offensive.

If they can’t afford to pay to become citizens (regardless of how “unaffordable” the process is) then perhaps they shouldn’t be staying and should return home. althiaraj As the article notes, it’s impossible to attribute the lower citizenship rate to any specific policy change in recent years. Off the cuff, it also seems plausible that people without a high school education may have a tougher time with the language requirement or the test.
