After successfully tamping down the first surge of infection and death, Europe is now in the middle of a second coronavirus wave as it moves into winter -- raising questions over what went so wrong.

both questioning the government's game plan and Times of London columnist Matthew Parris writing that Johnson's "shine has gone."that even the PM admits has "huge problems."

The Czech Republic reported a record 3,130 daily infections Friday as masks were made mandatory in schools again, and the Netherlands reported a record 1,977 cases. Prime Minister Mark Rutte told a news conference that the country's number of daily infections was doubling in just over a week. "With an R of 1.4, that number will grow in three weeks to more than 10,000 per day," he said.

He said he was "very concerned that more and more young people are counted among reported cases," advising against large gatherings and parties. ''We are at the beginning of the second wave. We are facing difficult months in the autumn and winter. The number of infections is increasing from day to day," he said in a tweet, asking Austrians to reduce social contacts as the obligation to wear face masks was expanded to more public places.

Please don’t paint all young folks with the same paint brush. Not all youth are stupid cavalier persons. We have a whole generation of thinking wise youth on the horizon. You know the ones who don’t spread C-19. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I think a big difference is diagnosis. Diagnosis numbers and infection numbers differ a great deal. CTV should stick to citing, not so much predicting, because your journalists suck.

Like sweeden?

How is Sweden doing after having no lockdowns?

CTV News... 😂😂🤣

Fear porn CTV. Here's truthful reporting.

You once told us that Sweden(no masks, no lockdown) had it all wrong. Yet they’ve got less cases and deaths than Italy, Spain and the UK. All of which had strict lockdowns and masks. Stop lying.

Second Wave of Bullshit. This is getting to the point of a dark far left comedy. 🤡🤣🤣

CCPVirus sucks.

Ignoring it doesn't make it less real

How are you going to spin this to look like Donald Trump’s fault?

Mortality is near zero Economy is open People aren't running around like scared sheep with used a masks on Kids aren't scared Govt is not nanny stating everything Which is better?

No need 2 post this as north American government's don't seem 2 use this info in wanting to protect anything but their economy bottom line.

What is the fatality rate?

Guess what causes 2nd waves? Lockdowns

Kool and the gang: Celebration

Well, lets see? As bad as any virus during fall/winter seasons? The government just has to reduce the amount of viral debris it takes to test positive. The numbers they report could go through the roof!
