How Glenlivet's 'alcoholic Tide Pods' do a disservice to the dram via nparts

A shining example of solving a nonexistent problem while potentially exacerbating a known issue in the process, single malt Scotch whisky producer The Glenlivet has launched a range of whisky-based cocktails in capsule form.

“As a brand that celebrates originality, we are always looking to break the conventions that have determined how single malt Scotch has historically been enjoyed,” The Glenlivet director Miriam Eceolaza told Food & Wine magazine. “The Glenlivet Capsule Collection does exactly that, and we’re excited to see how people react when they try our glassless cocktails.”

Kratena added that any likeness to Tide Pods — which, according to data from the American Association of Poison Control Centers, inspired deliberate misuse by 39 American teens and harmed 456 people across all age groups in the first two weeks of 2018 alone — was “purely coincidental.”
