Lundqvist had the final year of his contract bought out by the Rangers in early October and signed a one-year, $1.5-million deal with the Capitals shortly after.
In what proved to be the last season of his iconic New York tenure, Lundqvist put up a 10-12-3 record in 30 games in 2019-20 with a 2.52 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage as he saw his playing time decrease with the emergence of Alexandar Georgiev and Igor Shesterkin. Lundqvist broke into the NHL with the Rangers in 2005-06 and is the team’s all-time leader in several goalie statistics, including games played , wins , save percentage and shutouts .
