Posted: Aug. 29, 2022 11:58AMBARRIÈRE, B.C. — British Columbia’s emergency health service says it is reviewing the circumstances of the reported death of an infant last week while waiting for an ambulance in a small community in the southern Interior, calling it a “heartbreaking loss.”

It says the closest available ambulance was immediately dispatched, and local firefighters were also requested to assist with the call. Troy Clifford, president of Ambulance Paramedics of B.C., had spoken to media over the weekend about the death of an infant, but said Monday that all requests for details about response times are being referred to Emergency Health Services.

B.C. infant suffering medical emergency dies before ambulance can arriveB.C. Emergency Health Services is reviewing a case in which an infant in Barriere died before an ambulance could arrive. The EMHS has been strapped for some time but straight up, what has changed lately to make this such an issue? Can’t blame covid anymore cause that’s over. What’s the reason now? Short staffed? How many did they have 2 years ago to now? Give us facts, not opinions or speculation. How many paramedics were fired and not hired back due to Covid? Hire back all healthcare workers. Stop discriminating.
