Premier Andrew Furey says the new health care transfer will see an extra $100 million put into this province each year.offers less money than the provinces were hoping for, but any extra funding is good news for the province.
The premier says the extra funds will help address a number of issues including the replacement of the outdated system used to store medical records, mental health treatment, as well as recruitment and retention. Besides the modernization of health care, the province will have more resources available to address issues highlighted in the health accord.
He says more focus needs to be put on the social determinants of health—something he believes has been largely underfunded. He says the government wants to change that and provide more support to combat social issues such as poverty.

And the tradeoff is the Federal Government gets everyone's medical data and vax status. Basically medical digital id, this along with traveler digital ID are just 2 parts to the puzzle of full digital ID. Digital currency will be next, followed by social credit scoring.

This is not new money. It’s from previous commitments.
It's how that money is managed that will make the difference. This government will give millions to gas and oil but wont hire nurses. I am dissing gas and oil but a balance would have helped our health care.
This won't make any difference to frontline patient care. You just can't solve that problem by throwing money at it. I'd say half of that 100 million will be used to buy furniture and supplies for Eastern Health offices and whatnot. We won't see any improvements in healthcare.
NL has the biggest need for Healthcare reform in the country bar none. 100 million is a slap in the face, when you have no political clout you end up with the crumbs
