TORONTO -- A military report released Tuesday shed light on the "gut-wrenching" conditions of five long-term care homes in Ontario during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CAF report, dated May 20, was presented to the provincial government over the weekend and read in full by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday. Military members witnessed residents “crying out for help” while waiting anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours for a staff member to respond. "The reports they provided us were heartbreaking, they were horrific, it's shocking that this can happen here in Canada. It's gut-wrenching and reading those reports was the hardest thing I've done as premier,” he told reporters.
The results of these investigations will be shared with police to look into any possible criminal charges and I will also make the results of these investigations public,” he said. Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland also read the report on Monday and called it “truly heart-wrenching” while addressing it on Tuesday afternoon.
The Minister who has this portfolio should be fired. fordnation
the last execution in Canada happened on Dec 11, 1962, this would be a good time to bring back the noose. It is sickening that this happened in Canada.
Toronto's 'go train' was built on the backs of nursing & retirement senior residents by the previous provincial/federal goverments.

cmusician THIS! You better not let lobbyists get within 6 feet of your investigation, Doug. Make the CEOs explain, not the lobbyists. onpoli
If the government would put more money into homecare, the elderly would be cared for at their own home. Long term homes have been in horrific state and short staffed for decades.
Why did they keep these ill residents in an underfunded and understaffed nursing home? Why were they not sent to hospital to prevent it spreading?!
This report is not for the faint of heart. Harrowing account of the conditions and treatment of our most vulnerable in LTC homes. Can only hope those responsible will face criminal charges.😡😢😡😢
Why is everybody so surprised? There have been news stories, W5 features, not to mention stories from the families of residents. It's just always been more convenient to look the other way.
It all comes down to, ... government oversight. needmore
