GTA police services step up presence around mosques after New Zealand shootings

At least 49 people were killed when a heavily-armed gunman entered two mosques during Friday prayers in Christchurch, New Zealand Friday afternoon.Three other suspects have been detained in connection with the incident.While authorities in New Zealand were asking Muslims to avoid mosques on Saturday, police in the Greater Toronto Area quietly acknowledged they were increasing their presence around mosques ahead of Juma on Friday afternoon, the most important weekly gathering for prayer in Islam.

Bait Ul Islam’s imam, Muhammed Mirza, told CP24 morning prayers Friday were dedicated to the Christchurch victims and he hoped Canada would not suffer any more violence.They said there would be an increased presence of uniformed officers at all mosques and urged anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to contact them immediately.

Why? Do they have intel suggesting that someone is planning attacks in Toronto, or is this just security theatre?

We shouldn’t have places of worship. Religion segregates people. Wars have started over religion. Hatred stems from segregation. It’s simple. Everyone wants to stick to their own and then wonder why there is racism

Why bother. Is there an imminent threat If not then what a waste of our tax dollars

what!? why one specific mosque in Vaughn? is it a very big/central mosque?

Never judge a majority due to the ill acts of a minority. This applies to all religions/ethno-religions (whether its christianity, Islam, Hinduism, etc)
