The 1999 Colorado attack continues to motivate mass shooters, including the two men who this week stormed their former school in Brazil, killing seven people. The notion hit close to home for Sanders. Seemingly everywhere she turned -- the grocery store, a restaurant, a newspaper or magazine -- she would see the faces of the Columbine attackers and hear or read about them. Even in her own home, she was bombarded with their deeds on TV.
These attackers, he argued, are trying to outdo previous shooters with higher death tolls. Media coverage serves only to encourage copycats. James Alan Fox, a professor at Northeastern University who has studied mass shootings, said naming shooters is not the problem. Instead, he blamed over-the-top coverage that includes irrelevant details about the killers, such as their writings and their backgrounds, that "unnecessarily humanizes them."
Yep let's all just whitewash the entire terrorism thing whether by right wing terrorists or Muslim terrorists so we can live in lala land and terrorism will therefore increase because it would seem like no one would give a crap and then the families would really go after the
We don't need to give these people any undue notoriety but we do need to know who they are. It's simply not realistic to keep them anonymous. That's how rumours start, and those might be more damaging than the truth.
Media including CTV is slow to get the msg This nut wrote names of other mass Muslim killers on his ammo clips. He got the names thx to MSM. You can tell the story without using the killers name or photo, then the next one isn't encouraged to seek fame.
And stop talking about his life. Please only talk about the people they kill. Share their stories.
no way - they are shooters and just because they are white they need to be known not hidden - something smells fishy
These animals don’t deserve the spotlight leave them in the dark and put the spotlight on the victims
My guess is the NRA is against this type of censorship. “Murderers should get their 15 minutes of fame like anyone else.” Or some shit like this. Thoughts and prayers though.
If it wasn’t for the media the guy in New Zealand would’ve never known about the guy in Quebec! I know their names!... but they are not worth mentioning!..
Why We need to be properly informed as to who these people are!
NOT! Freedom of speech and press! 👍🏼🇨🇦
Go ahead and name them, but no pictures and put the energy in telling the stories of the victims and their families. One more thing, call the act for what it is.
do your job
do your job
do you job

All criminals should be named and pictures published. That’s everyone charged regardless of race or religion.
More censorship?
People will always find out; shooter will be forgotten in a month anyway, by the masses at least. Just don’t cover them 24/7 for that month. Easley peasey
Totally agree. They do Not need publicity 😢
Baloney people have a right to know.
That's a lie. Everybody always wants the name released immediately.
Police organizations should do the same. Terrorists should die nameless.
Only to hide the middle easterners names when they attack us.
And.... making sure it’s ok wth perps family’s AND preparing a statement before news is given to Canadians. We’re already doing that
That info should be a matter or public record. Sensationalizing or glorifying is a totally different matter.
Censorship is wrong.
This is why traditional media is becoming irrelevant.
Been saying this FOR FIVE YEARS
Fake
All for that. Losers seeking fame. Time to deny it to them.
