$18,000 pet memorial is to be installed beside the Hub Trail during the summer

One year after the previously anonymous author of a poem beloved by millions was discovered living in Inverness, Scotland, a bridge crossing Fort Creek is to be rededicated as Sault Ste. Marie's 'Rainbow Bridge.'

"With work coming from engineering, recreation and culture, and public works, these expenditures are able to be covered within existing budgets," says Salvatore Marchese from the city's planning staff. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.Until last year, no one knew with certainty who wrote the poem, which was reprinted twice by Abigail Van Buren , the world's most-syndicated newspaper columnist with 100 million readers.
