PARADISE, N.S. — Swinging the golf clubs before the end of March is “wonderful” Dan Morley said as he prepared to tee off the season in West Paradise.Morley was in the first group of the season at Eden, which is traditionally one of the first courses in the province to open due to the soil’s sandy makeup allowing it to drain quickly.Paradise’s Dan Morley watches his tee shot March 27 at Eden Golf and Country Club. He opened the season with the first shot at the West Paradise course.

Morley is going to be teaching lessons at the West Paradise course this year while Wright works in the pro shop.Wright asked his friend Stuart Muir if he’d like to complete their group for the opening round. Muir was happy to say yes. The Wright’s Lake, Halifax County, resident, said he tries to get out as much as possible and has been a member at Eden on and off for six years.

Roger Surette grew up in Windsor but now lives in Dartmouth. He was part of a group making the trip from the city to take advantage of the early opening.
