GARRIOCH: Derick Brassard says there\u0027s no excuse for Senators\u0027 start to the season

“It’s a learning process and we still have really young players but people don’t want to hear that anymore,” Brassard told this newspaper before facing the Sharks. “These aren’t entry-level guys anymore and it’s our jobs as players in the leadership core to make sure everybody is on the same page. We’ve got to play with the little details that are important for us to win games.Article content

Brassard said the answers have to come from within because this team should have a better record and be vying for a playoff spot. The pressure in Ottawa is a whole lot different than it has been since this team started its rebuild midway through 2017-18 season. The club has missed the playoffs five consecutive years and there was confidence this would be the year the club would challenge.
