Former Victoria mayor appointed as housing adviser for province

Former Victoria mayor Lisa Helps has been appointed as B.C. Premier David Eby’s new adviser on housing.

Helps, a strong advocate of affordable housing, was elected mayor in 2011 and served two terms but decided not to run in the 2022 municipal election.

Hmmmm… cause you did such a great job in the Capital city?

Didn’t he just create new housing ministry? What does he need special advisor for? This is incredible waste of money!

Gotta set up some gap funding before running as a NDP candidate in the snap election later this year.

Remember, this is the loonie leftist who said she wouldn’t take a homeless person into her house due to having “confidential city files” in her house while preaching Vic residents to take one in, about 3-4 years ago. Disgusting NDP patronage but typical.

I came kicking ending up as a supporter of the BC NDP since Horgan came in. I was willing to give Eby the benefit of the doubt - supported him - until today. This ignorant, willfully blind, almost universally hated woman cannot exist in any government that I vote for.

She didn’t do much as mayor to improve the housing situation but I suppose it is a stepping for her political future.

Because she did such a wonderful job in Victoria and she will go down as one of, if not the most beloved Mayor in Victoria.

She decided not to run bcs, after two terms, there was no one left in Victoria who supported her. She was a terrible mayor.
