Savoring Success with Taste Nova Scotia Culinary Ambassador Amy Savoury | SaltWireSYDNEY — There’s nothing a Cape Breton hockey fan loves more than a player who stands up for his teammates and gives it his all on every shift.

Prior to joining the Oilers for the 1993-94 season, the six-foot-one, 210-pound Bonvie accumulated 316 penalty minutes with the Ontario Hockey League’s North Bay Centennials. Next year, the 50-year-old will be recognized for his career in the league when he’s one of four individuals inducted into the AHL hall of fame as part of its class of 2024, the league announced on Tuesday.

In 871 games in the AHL, Bonvie had 84 goals and 275 points along with 4,493 penalty minutes and a -48 rating. He added nine goals and 37 points in 106 playoff games along with an additional 319 penalty minutes. Since his retirement from playing in 2008, Bonvie has served as a pro scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins. He served as the Bruins’ head pro scout in 2021-22 and for the last two seasons he’s been the club’s director of professional scouting.
