Former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi has officially announced he is running to be the leader of the Alberta NDP. The new leader will be chosen to replace Rachel Notley, who will step down. Voting for the new leader will begin on May 22 and the new leader will be announced on June 22.

Former Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi has officially announced he is running to be the leader of the Alberta NDP. Nenshi stated that Albertans deserve a government that focuses on shared values and priorities, such as prosperity, opportunity, affordability, fairness, healthcare, education, and preventing natural disasters. Rachel Notley will step down as leader once her replacement is chosen.

The candidates for the leadership position include MLAs Kathleen Ganley, Rakhi Pancholi, Sarah Hoffman, Jodi Calahoo Stonehouse, and Alberta Federation of Labour president Gil McGowan. Voting for the new leader will begin on May 22 and the new leader will be announced on June 22. Voters must have an active membership as of April 22
