Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi said some of the four diplomats who first tested positive for the Omicron coronavirus variant in the country had come from Europe, calling for a reversal of widespread travel bans imposed against southern African countries.

Omicron, dubbed a variant of concern by the World Health Organization, has prompted many governments to impose curbs on travel from southern Africa, and to take other measures to contain it.

"It is unnecessary and if you ask me, for lack of a better expression, irresponsible," Masisi said of the travel curbs, speaking in an interview with CNN on Thursday evening.

Yeah, because all us gen pop know that diplomats and MP float above all rules, we have had professionals, kids and everyone else use Zoom and all that other crap to distance but our reps meet in person, and use big fuel burners to get there. 🤷‍♀️

Obviously diplomats are not put through the same scrutiny while traveling as us 'normal' citizens

So why stop flights from Africa but not from Europe?

Kids in Africa were the treat for a weekend. Weird

He doesn’t want to geo-politicize but he complains about Europeans so he geo-politicizes They are all trying to say it didn’t come from Africa but in SA it’s the dominant virus and no where else yet Accusing others of things and then doing the same just makes you look stupid.
