While Clark promised to make the city whole, he also said Wednesday that the province would be launching a third-party audit of municipal reserve funds. He said that while development charges collected by the city are not used immediately, they are put into reserve to pay for projects the city knows it will need to carry out, much like a homeowner saving for a new roof.

But in his comments Thursday, the premier cast doubt on the idea that the municipal government is managing its funds well. He said the city’s fees are passed on to homebuyers and suggested that increasing charges to developers drives up the cost of homes.

He owes too much to his donors. It’s payback time for them on the backs of Ontarians.

I don't mind the fee's being cut but, you have to make sure municipalities can't raise taxes to compensate. If they raise taxes then there's no point to cutting fees except to benefit builders.

Is there any guarantee the developers will pass the savings on to homeowners/renters? No, I didn’t think so.

This from a man that wastes taxpayer money on attack adverts, stickers for gas stations, litigation to avoid testifying at an inquiry directly involving his decision making, etc. , etc
