Many small businesses may not survive the pandemic, and most of those that do could face a rocky road to recovery

"The majority of them have said that they are losing money every day that they are open @and I guess the question is how much longer can that happen," said CFIB president Dan Kelly.

Sheila Block, a senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, also believes public coffers have a role to play in the rebound, but warned government relief isn't a cure-all. When COVID-19 struck, the pair temporarily shut down their two Alberta stores, laid off some workers and put plans for pop-ups across the country on hold.

For many small businesses, which have grappled with layoffs, rent problems and mounting bills, recovery will also mean leaning on customers."On the darkest days getting a great email from someone saying, 'Keep going. I love what you're doing' has also been really meaningful.""I don't know that I want to get back to the way things used to be, to be perfectly honest," she said. "I'm not sure that was actually healthy for anyone.

That’s the point, box box retail is what the government wants. Some of the voices to persecute small business through closures is rooted in the idea Walmart doesn’t cheat taxes. Canadian government can’t be trusted, many examples of why have been proven and swept under the rug.

Well, instead of TURD-OH giving away all the taxpayer dollars to places like FIJI maybe he should look at this!!

A mass of businesses will shut post Christmas;they won’t have had cash to purchase spring/summer stock. Many mature businesses are currently closing as leases expire. Stores still operating are bringing in low quality stock to increase profit margin, a move towards failure.

China has such a disregard for other countries & are nothing but a bully nation. The devastation caused by China spreading this virus is disgusting. China owes the world a huge apology & massive amounts of financial restitution for the lives and livelihoods they have destroyed.🇨🇦

They mean for small businesses that survive authoritarian government the recovery will be difficult ...

They aren’t surviving Covid 19. They aren’t infected by it. What they are surviving; is a tyrannical govt and their unnecessary closures and restrictions. The same govt who boasts they are ‘for the people’. Which People?

Especially businesses like these ones People don't generally respond well to discrimination

Maybe you should focus more on this then trying yo scare people about covid. The lockdowns are going to cause way more damage then covid ever would have

That's Trudeau's plan... He doesn't want businesses to succeed.. He wants Canada converted to communism.

Stop destroying small businesses with lockdowns that don’t work for anything.

Increasing the carbon tax will help small businesses, according to Justyn.
