For Europe’s sake, a good and fair Brexit deal should be given one last chance GlobeDebate

In this handout photo made available by U.K. Parliament, British Prime Minister Theresa May speaks in the House of Commons, in London, on March 20, 2019.is professor of European Studies at Oxford University, and recipient of the 2017 Charlemagne Prize.

If the answer is the former, they should continue the current mainstream Brussels line of trying to help the government of British Prime Minister Theresa May to get her deal over the line, and the United Kingdom out of the EU as soon as possible. If Europe is also the latter, as French President Emmanuel Macron has eloquently argued, then they must recognize that Ms. May’s government is the problem, not the solution.More than 16 million British citizens voted for the U.K.

What, then, should far-sighted European leaders do? They should give Britain an Article 50 extension of up to one year, with the clear, stated purpose of finding a way forward that commands a majority in the British Parliament. In return, London should promise not to obstruct other developments in the EU. Crucially, the extension period could be terminated by mutual agreement at any point.

Fair Haven, Vt. elects goat as honorary mayor; ‘Lincoln’ sworn in for first termLincoln the three-year-old goat was dressed in a sash reading ‘Mayor’ for the Tuesday ceremony, which turned into a civics lesson for kids Probably will run for President as Democrat!! I nominate Ophelia the River Rat as Ottawa's honourary mayor. She can chew threw glass, cinderblock, and metal. If she marshaled her troops, these talents could save the city millions in construction costs. Rats can also swim for up to 3 days, a plus during flood rescues.
