The same province that tolerated 14 years of Ralph Klein couldn\u0027t handle three years of Jason Kenney

In March, Quebec Finance Minister Eric Girard similarly dismissed opposition calls to slash provincial fuel prices. “, before inferring that historically high fuel prices were a good thing that would drive Quebecers to alternative forms of transportation.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney smiles after giving a speech pledging to resign as leader of the United Conservative Party following a leadership vote that he won by just 51.4 per cent. It’s been a rough couple of years for Kenney, and more than a few political watchers detected a note of relieved cheeriness in his voice.Alberta Premier Jason Kenney abruptly resigned on Wednesday night after winning a leadership review by only a single percentage point..

Maybe 🇨🇦 could build oil/gas pipelines and repeal the no more tankers bill off the west coast? No chance with Climate Cult Leader JustinTrudeau in charge.

Just amazin... has it occured to some that maybe a little conservation would ease the burden . Even at $2 a littre.. ( Europe and others have been above this for years ) it's a reasonable price. If people want lower prices don't vote Liberal... don't vote NDP or the Green Party.

This is a Liberal paradise, why would they change anything. People might start enjoying their lives and we can't have that!

High prices are the point! That is literally the reason for the carbon tax! They were just trying to increase the price slowly because they think we are all frogs in a pot of water! Now it’s all Putin’s fault cuz he pushed up the temperature and frogs are jumping out the pot!

Ask justinflation

Trudeau needs a lot of money to pay for his past, present and future wasteful spending…. It does anger me thinking we have our own crude oil and yet we pay dearly for gas. Doesn’t help either having a war going on.

That’s because Justin needs another vaca.

There is no shortage of oil. It’s all a farce. Russia has pumped more oils and gas in the last two months than any other month before the war. This is corporate profiteering. Any government aid will go only to low income anyway. Screw the middles earners same as usual…

If anyone's going to pay the carbon tax, it should be Oil and Gas.

We are one of the largest producers of gas…there is NO reason for it except that we export it to be refined in the US and imported back in, we tax our own gas more than we do American companies that open in Canada freetaxes JustinTrudeau fordnation

Maybe oil and gas could perhaps stop gouging us at the pumps. A 2 cent tax increase isn't accounting for the 70 cents/litre increase.

Taxes could go down but the price will still go up.

Yup cool I guess oil companies should be given more room to increase their profit more. Suncor already triple its profits compared to last year why not quadruple ? Conservatives will be happy to pay high gas prices to increase their share holders dividendes

Uhh … nope.

Maybe Canada should quit maintaining roads and road related services and leave vehicle owners to work it all out on their own. True freedom!

It doesn’t matter about the tax. If we removed all tax from the price of gas, what’s stopping the gas companies from raising it back up again? We need to limit all these gas companies to sell their product at no more than $1 a litre whether they like it or not.

Maybe the nat post should stop spewing right wing nonsense and look at what’s happening everywhere else! Stop your whining and fear mongering! You’re getting as bad as fox entertainment in the states! Corporate owned CONservative propaganda machines!

If this government doesn't pull its collective finger out and do something, these high prices will grind the economy into recession. Cap the HST.

Good idea. To replace the lost revenue government needs to increase taxes on the top 1%.

Does “First Reading” just mean “we didn’t bother fact-checking”?

In Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, this is just what they voted for. Double it. They'll be twice as happy.

From ground to gas tank, how much is collected in federal & provincial taxes for one litre (royalties included)?

supreme 2.37 today

It’s part of plan!

For what?! JustinTrudeau has our backs Hahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahhhahahhahahahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahahahahha

Why? We pay the most for cell service, why not everything else?

Canada? You mean corporations operating in Canada, right? Right?

We want social programs... we pay... more programs more taxes.. mix that in with an aging infrastructure.. its a perfect storm....fuel taxes is a governments (at all level) cash cow..

If the taxes are lowered where will Justin get the money he needs to spend indiscriminately? Besides, isn't it nice to be 1?

we only have the 4th largest oil reserves in the world

Better not.

Pro big oil newspaper

Tax on Tax on Tax it's the Canadian way. Gst carbontax ProvincialTax

Congrats to all the liberals...... We are one step closer to the 'big bang'.

Exactly where the government wanted it around 2 bucks a litre

Maybe we should change the way we drive. Having 1 driver in an empty large SUV ain't smart driving.

Trudeau needs to go

Why is the first scapegoat always taxes? How about look at the oligopolistic price fixing that is leading to record breaking profits? pricegouging

Maybe oil companies could stop gouging the ever living fuck out of us? Oh wait, that's not the message your corporate overlords want.

Why ? Just to lower gas prices ? Not worth it.

I’m sorry, this is supposed to be a newsletter that brings news. This isn’t news and it’s an opinion that fails to grasp the basics that oil companies are ripping us off

Canada is heavily in debt without a plan to pay the money back. So how is it that you could even consider paying less taxes? By stealing from people that are not even born yet, giving them no vote, no say, no choice. How noble? But somehow your not a scumbag. cdnpoli

Vancouver today 🤷‍♂️

nah, hopefully this incentivizes people to find other modes of transportation to get to work.

Wow even tho we are sitting on one of the biggest oil reserves. What a joke...the joke is on the Canadians that are forced to pay these prices ..thank you JustinTrudeau for sending millions and millions of dollars to ZelenskyyUa

Or, the Völkischer Beobachter, sorry I meant “National Socialist Post” could try to print truth instead of lies, yes?

Trudeau lies came marching, one by one, hurrah, hurrah.

what are fuel taxes Japan? Netherlands?

Remember those politicians and governments that insisted on lying in bed with big oil and gouging the Canadian voters. Their record will be their voice at the ballot box.

Then our roads will get even worse.

Educate yourself. 21.7% PROVINCIAL TAXES in Ontario. A much smaller federal tax. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ But that doesn’t play in the lying Conservative narrative. CPCgoesFarRight

Then regulate O&G so they stop gouging us the extra 90 cents a litre we're currently forced to give them right now

Why?

Money is power. Socialists want to control the distribution of wealth to design their socialist society with the crony elites harvesting the lives of those under them.

An $0.11 per litre tax isn’t the problem here. Look deeper

Nah we gotta save the puffins. More carbon tax! More!

Maybe they could stop giving the fuel tax away to wealthy corporations

Maybe you should have your hemisphere examined.

Maybe we should cross examine the science the Paris Accord promotes for profit.

Ummm, hemispheres refer to northern and southern usually. So this story is a lie, total fabrication, fake, crap, bogus. Check a few European or Scandinavian countries, higher fuel taxes. Do better than fuel your screaming base.

The close to nothing that Canada has done on climate change is now too much and should be reversed because filling up my SUV has gotten annoyingly expensive.

Vancouver and Victoria pay about 70¢/litre in tax.

ryck_nancy The 1st Trudeau brought us the litre which disguises taxes much easier. Doubt that was the original plan but us metricfying without the US was a bad idea

$0.63/litre is all taxes. Half of that should be refunded to car owners for vehicle repairs. If it's not the pot holes it's the salt. Canadians can't win. Taxed into oblivion.

No! people were ok with it and voted for it. You don't get to back out when it starts to effect you. Eat your cake.

Maybe the lieberal voters can pay the higher taxes they seem to love Justin and the inflation he has brought in. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind there used to getting screwed by lieberals.

Gobble, gobble, gobble . . . .

Fuel - Telecom - Food - Education - HEALTH?

👍👍

That would be too smart.

This one I agree with

For once I agree with this right wing paper.

There should be a max amount of tax paid per fill at a level deemed absolutely necessary for government coffers - no more gravy. This would be on a per tank bases so those with dual tanks pay twice if filling both! This way the cost of gas is decoupled from the cost per litre.

Lol. The same people on social media demanding high fossil fuel prices to save the planet are now squawking because they got what they wanted.

High gasoline price is a problem in many counties. It is a global issue. And the price is much higher in some countries.

Maybe corporations could stop price gouging consumers

Notable that they mean the western hemisphere and not the northern lol, that draws down the list of comparables significantly.

Taxes go down, oil companies just raise their profit margin that amount. Maybe the NP could stop shilling for greedy oil and gas companies?

But then how would Trudeau have any money to give to other countries?

alberta proved, we drop taxes they raise prices. smarten up

But it’s the greedy oil companies .
