Multiple people called 911 just after 8 a.m. to report smoke and flames coming from a garage attached to a two-storey home on Bramblegrove Crescent between Briermoor Crescent and Lorry Greenberg Drive.
Ottawa Fire Services arrived on the scene at 8:11 a.m., two minutes after being dispatched to the call according to an OFS media release. They confirmed that smoke and flames were coming from the garage and began extinguishing the fire. The fire was declared under control less than 10 minutes later. Firefighters searched the home and confirmed there was no one inside. The fire did not spread into the attic or eaves above the garage.
“Due to the quick response, combined with the fast attack, the fire was contained to the garage and did not spread into the home,” the media release said. Nobody was injured and a fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
