Best Buy and the federal government are warning of a recall on five different air fryers sold under the brand name ‘Insignia.’
Officials are concerned the devices could be a fire hazard. Nearly 100-thousand were sold by Best Buy in Canada between September 2021 and November 2023. According to the recall alert, the fryers can overheat, causing the handles to melt or break. One of the items – an air fryer oven – has a glass window in its door, which officials warn can shatter.
The company is reporting six instances of the handles failing in Canada, along with another instance of the glass door breaking. In the United States, there have allegedly been 24 incidents, including six where the fryers caught on fire.Insignia 5L/5.28Qt Digital Air Fryer, Black Insignia 3.4 QT.
