Third shift gone as company phases out production of Dodge Grand Caravan

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV will lay off 1,500 unionized employees at its assembly plant in Windsor, Ont. as the automaker phases out production of the Dodge Grand Caravan.

“The company will make every effort to place indefinitely laid off hourly employees in open full-time positions as they become available based on seniority and will offer retirement packages to eligible employees,” the statement said. “In the merger there will be no affect on production in Ontario,” FCA chief executive Mike Manley said at the time.

It's going to be a rough economic year in Canada. Oil is crashing, we can't transport goods or build projects and now another plant shuttered in Windsor, a struggling city.

It’s too bad for those not getting a retirement package... I feel for those folks. But Unifor taking another hit, that I like.

Businesses are running away from inept Ford government policies

I can't help but wonder what might've been for Canadas auto manufacturing had our governments not squandered the opportunity to work with Sergio Marchionne back during the bailout era.

Well Jerry Diaz what have you got to say ? We're waiting.

Oh well

CrustyMaclean Why can't I take that grin off my face?

That’s what happens when you voted for Trudeau. Have fun

Who knows. This is the 4th date they've given.

And yet another business and Canadian jobs go to Mexico. I though that the Liberals said that they did a great job of negotiating USMCA. What happened ? Where is Soprano Jerry Diaz when you need him ?

Good news for Ontario. This will certainly help with Canadas carbon emmissions.

B.C. cuts funding for hospice operator that won't provide medically assisted deathA hospice operator in Metro Vancouver is losing out on roughly $1.5 million in annual funding after refusing to provide patients access to medically assisted death. 'Every hospice in British Columbia that receives more than half its funding from the government is required to provide assisted dying service for patients who request it – but the Delta Hospice Society has dug in its heels, arguing that doing so would go against its principles.' GOOD Good. You can't be expected to get taxpayer money and not abide by the law.
