Few Ontario school boards have teacher dress codes. Some students say that’s unfair. “If you’re going to have students follow a dress code, then it’s also important for staff to follow the same dress code.'

Students say it’s unfair that they must abide by dress codes when few Ontario school boards have any such rules for teachers.

Ambica Randhawa, a Grade 10 student at the school, isn’t bothered by the teacher’s appearance but would like to see some rules in place — ones that respect all staff and students. “I think that everybody has the right to express themselves as they are… but in the learning environment you need to make sure that everybody is comfortable there.”

It should ALWAYS start by the teacher leading as the example. Clearly this is not the case.

I agree ,lead by example

Who needs a dress code when you don't even have professional standards?

Stange headline given students don't have dress codes. The school boards just abolished them for students

In my time we didn't have dress codes as students and teachers knew what was appropriate.

What’s important here is that they’re allowed to show in giant prosthetic breasts and no one is allowed to stop them. That’s how we know we’ve progressed as a society.

Most ON boards have not needed teacher dress codes bc teachers are adults who can be relied upon to dress appropriately without being told. Now one person eager to create controversy and whose goals are, AFAIK, to demonize the trans community & get a fat settlement, ruins it.

An interesting aspect to this story is that the teacher that they are defending could affect the lives of thousands of others if the demand for staff dress codes go through. Not really sure I'd count it as a negative as per say, but there will be teachers who chafe at a code.

Only the coddled teachers wouldn’t have some sort of dress code.Every other work place I have ever been in had some sort of code.

Ontario College of Teachers asked to review professional conduct standards after teacher wears large prosthetic breasts in classroomOntario’s education minister said he has asked the Ontario College of Teachers to review professional conduct provisions after images circulated online showing a teacher wearing large prosthetic breasts in a classroom. The college of teachers needs to come down hard on this. Other than dress down Fridays or special spirit days. Teachers need to look professional. They want to be treated and paid as a professional than they need to act like one and that starts with a dress code. I really wish a woman would walk into school with a giant dildo down her pants to show how ridiculous this is, how gender ideology is forcing everyone to lie. To bob our heads 'everything is normal' that women can be men and men can be women.
