The federal government is allocating $625 million to support the child care sector, as demands intensify for government action to help parents return to work after pandemic lockdowns.

Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen said Friday that the investment will ensure "enough safe and affordable child care spaces available to parents as they gradually return to work," and is part of the federal government’s $19-billion Safe Restart Agreement with provinces and territories.

"This investment is in addition to the $1.2 billion over three years was distributed to the provinces and territories, starting in 2017-18, to support early learning and child care and create up to 40,000 more affordable child care spaces," the ministry's press release read. "Going forward, employment might be expected to increase somewhat faster among men than women in the coming months given the more rapid increase in goods-producing industries in May and the fact that women are more likely to continue with caregiving responsibilities while child-care facilities remain closed and while school is disrupted," the document reads.

"[The measures] keep track of how those federal dollars are used by provinces and territories," he said. He said he also expects his provincial and territorial counterparts to "do their part" and follow through with their own individual support measures.

Divide, deflect, obfuscate, cheat. A hell of a strategy.

Has anyone noticed how your money is spent, your hard earned money goes to whomever and wherever the wind blows! Buying votes. Well, hopefully, everyone takes the money and votes wisely next time. Your great grandchildren are going to pay for this.

Resing and go to jail

This money will likely only ever make it into the hands of childcare workers in the East.

Is there a polite way to ask someone to practice good COVID-19 etiquette?Health experts agree that etiquette surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic can be thorny, but note that politely asking others to wear a mask or practice physical distancing may help prevent community spread. So many stores In 🇨🇦 have 6’ Spacing clearly marked on the floor. Unless you’re the manager It’s not your place to correct a coworkers 😷mask. How is this Iris Gorfinkel, M.D. DrGorfinkel? I feel uncomfortable mentioning this, but I’m concerned because 'wearing a mask' does absolutely nothing. I had an old jerk yell at me while I’m holding my 1 year old (I’m terrified to let him sit in a shopping buggy and touch things) cause he thought I was too close. Was watching spacing cause I’m also worried. Made my baby cry! I was livid. So not like that.
