Jagmeet Singh spent so much time making the case that Justin Trudeau is the wrong leader for Canada, he forgot to make the case he’s the right one.
Would he scrap the Trans Mountain pipeline upon being elected? Who knows. Where would his investments go to get CO2 emissions down by 50 per cent? Couldn’t say. How would he protect Indigenous ancestral rights to logging, fishing and hunting? No idea. The Liberal leader was, himself, fact-checked by longtime advocate Cindy Blackstock, who tweeted: “You have a right to litigate against First Nations children and have chosen to do so—you don’t have the right to make false statements about it.”
Of course, that’s not true either. Under Trudeau, Canada has blown past the targets it committed to under the Kyoto Accord and the Copenhagen Accord. As Singh and Green leader Annamie Paul were quick to point out, Canada has been the only G7 country to see its emissions rise in recent years. That meant that, with every opportunity to put his “bold” and “ambitious” plan on the table, he lacked any figures to back it up, instead pivoting to platitudes and incessant optimism.
Singh just threw himself back as a potential candidate in my books trying to roast Trudeau. Singh still stays at 2 but further back but still ahead of O'Toole & the rest.

Nice red herring, seeing as how Singh has zero chance of becoming Prime Minister. His job was to Kamikaze Trudeau, to benefit O’Toole. And it worked perfectly.
I am disappointed Maclean's. The Conservative party has only governed under one leader given it is not the same party yet I don't recall that coming up. None after the man who broke electoral law to create it so why not say no one other than Harper has formed govt as Cons.?
Trudeau says he would never turn his backs on Canadians.But I don’t think the ones left behind in Afghanistan would agree, nor those who can’t afford a home or the cost of living,those effected by the forest fires,the pandemic or opioid crisis as he called an unnecessary election
Mr. Singh promises everything to everyone, which of course is no problem for the NDP leader as much like Trudeau, he doesn’t concern himself with the responsibility of dealing with the cost and he is out of touch w/ reality if he truly believes the rich will pay. Sadly we will😔
