Some people are upset after the federal government announced Monday that it will award up to $12 million to Canada’s largest grocery store retailer as part of a green initiative.
Loblaws applied to the fund in 2018 to add to its own investment of “$36 million to reduce refrigerant emissions,” spokesperson Catherine Thomas said in an emailed statement. “ will result in the equivalent carbon reductions of taking 50,000 cars off the road annually.” After the announcement, some people took to social media to express their anger over the government’s investment.
