Hindsight is always 20/20, especially in fantasy hockey. With the NHL's regular season behind us, thegoldenmuzzy looks back on who impressed and who came up short.

Far and away, Vasilevskiy was the best goalie in the NHL this season, reality or fantasy for that matter. I’d consider him all but a lock to win the Vezina Trophy. Despite missing significant time with a broken left foot, the Russian was still unbelievably able to lead the entire league in wins . Pound-for-pound, no other netminder was really in Vasilevskiy’s realm. The 24-year-old is poised to force himself into first round consideration in standard leagues come the fall.

How do you possess two 100-point scorers and still miss the playoffs? Well, that’s what they’re pondering at this very second in Edmonton. All I’ll say is good thing the fantasy game revolves around individual success. Regardless of the dumpster fire around him, the German forward was able to bounce back in a big way offensively this season. He’s certainly cemented himself amongst the elite in the fantasy world for many years to come.

Drew Doughty on Kings' season: 'I just want to get this over with' - Sportsnet.caAs the Los Angeles Kings close out a disappointing season, defenceman Drew Doughty wishes it was over already. I am sure your fans agree. They're probably tired of spending money on tickets to watch you. So how's it going with all that new money and a lousy team? I think many athletes and their agents on team sports fail to recognize when there are hard caps, sometimes team needs to come before self if you want to enjoy your work. Afraid some Leafs may soon be in the same boat. I’m sure the kings feel the same way about your contract. Bum!
