On Sunday, Valentyne posted a 12-minute video to social media in which she described experiencing years of verbal abuse and gender discrimination by an unnamed co-worker.
The Canadian Press made multiple attempts to contact Derringer for comment, but he did not respond. Corus said Valentyne shared her concerns years ago and the broadcast company took action to review them at the time. It also noted a Canadian Human Rights Commission process related to the allegations is continuing.
“He took shots at me constantly; it was disheartening. Like, why me? I always thought, there's bounty enough for all, but he saw someone who wouldn't or couldn't fight back and he went after me relentlessly,” she said in a phone interview from her home in Victoria, B.C. Delaney says she had been Derringer's third co-host in a short period of time, something management acknowledged was a “problem” even prior to her arriving. After her initial complaints, they moved her to a separate booth, but the verbal abuse persisted at a level Delaney says she'd never experienced before.
“And in the end, all of the co-hosts, the revolving door of females who sat in the chair opposite him, were eminently expendable, and weren't going to say anything, because would always take Derringer's side.” Her time at the company overlapped with Valentyne's, and she recalls often running into her in the bathroom, where she would find her “visibly upset, shaken, crying.”

I think the guys go after each other pretty relentlessly on the show. Can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Not really sure whybshe was hired because she never really added anything to the show.

Is morning radio not supposed to be about chirping? Isn’t that part of the attraction and ultimately the comedic part of the show? Can’t really compare but has anyone every listened to Howard Stern? That should could fill up a human rights tribunal for centuries
Some of the comments I’m reading from men here are disappointing. But show why women and others in these kinds of situations suffer in silence. It takes a lot of guts to come forward. That said, we should also hear john’s side of the story. A full investigation is necessary.

They vaped in the booth illegal. They demeaned her -bill 169 in Ontario says that sexist demeaning yelling is illegal. If you don’t like the rules of work in Ontario expect to get fired.

I have seen so much of this over the years. The 3 top reasons I see it is if the accuser either 1) is good for business/ratings or 2) friends with the big brass or 2) fits the requirement to have a certain % from the 'other' profile. You don't stand a chance against either 3.

I am not sticking up for JD in any way but if that was the case then this case should go a lot deeper than just JD being exposed. Where are the names of the people in charge at the time who should also be held accountable. It shouldn’t just be JD who takes the fall here.
The problem is that these people get a little bit of publicity and say they're great and it goes to their heads and they think they can treat people like crap that's an all sports and media
I would really like to hear what John's side. She never really fit on his morning show. It wasn't the same fluff pieces she used to do at BT all the time and she never seemed comfortable with it. She wasn't able to keep her job at Global News either. Who's to blame for that one?

This is crazy. Jennifer Valentyne is upset because a coworker was mean to her. Grow up. She might be the most untalented on-air host i'd ever seen and JD knew it. We couldnt figure out how she was employed for TV. Sick of these kind of complaints.. 3 years ago he was mean to me.

Ah yeah this was the woman with the horrible fucking attitude on CityTV who made everything awkward.
She sucked off so many guys back in the 1990s at CityTV just to get into the business - almost every male producer & on-air personality at CityPulse & BT. Had quite the reputation as a young & willing Jennifer Peck. All the guys I knew who worked there said they had their turn.
