The European Commission has dropped nearly all of its order of 60 million doses of a new COVID-19 vaccine from French firm Valneva, the EU executive said on Wednesday, in a move that all but wipes out the shot's value for the company.

The EU agreed in November last year to buy the vaccine, with the first 27 million doses to be delivered this year, butthe vaccine received approval only last month after protracted delays.Under the revised deal, European countries will now buy just 1.25 million doses from Valneva, to be delivered in August and September, with an option to buy another 1.25 million by the end of this year.

The company has suspended manufacturing for now, and said it would only further invest in the vaccine and its second-generation COVID-19 vaccine if deals with other customers are secured alongside necessary funding in coming months. Valneva's vaccine uses technology already employed for decades in shots against polio, influenza and hepatitis.

EU draws up energy plan in case of Russian gas cutoffThe European Union's head office on Wednesday proposed that member states cut their gas use by 15 per cent over the coming months to ensure that any full Russian cutoff of natural gas supplies to the bloc will not fundamentally disrupt industries next winter. Trump was clairvoyant, again, regarding Germany being dependent on Russian oil+gas. I guess the Europarl_EN vonderleyen “green shift” wasn’t the best move after all. Didn’t accomplish much, except push ordinary people into poverty, and fund Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Always remember, “our betters” have no idea what they’re talking about.

Putin warns EU that gas supplies could keep dwindlingMOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday it is the West’s own fault that the flow of Russian natural gas to European customers has dwindled… Trump tried to warn Europe of this exact scenario four years ago and all the liberals laughed at him. I wonder if liberals are capable of realizing when they're wrong, let alone admitting it publicly. Eventually the EU and us here in the West will realize how stupid these sanctions are! Putin is actually in control but world leaders won’t admit it! Is everyone laughing at Trump now? He called it!
