10 to 20 cm of snow is expected over today and tonight

Prince George is facing another snowfall warning. Environment Canada issued the warning for Prince George along with the Bulkley Valley, Lakes District, Vanderhoof and Fort St. James. The government agency says there will be rapidly accumulating snow, and reduced visibilities due to snow and local blowing snow.

This is because a low pressure system will give snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm as it moves off the Pacific near Prince Rupert this afternoon then sweeps across the interior. The snow will begin this morning then intensify by early afternoon. Snow heavy at times will persist this evening before tapering off late tonight as the storm tracks well to the southeast. In addition, gusty northeast winds tonight will give local blowing snow and reduced visibilities.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There are also highway alerts in effect for Yellowhead Highway – Tete Jaune Cache to the Alberta Border due to the snowfall.— PrinceGeorge February 19, 2023
