Several grocery stores in Canada are opening their doors early for seniors and those with other health concerns to give them an opportunity to shop with fewer customers around amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health officials have identified the elderly and those with other medical concerns as the most vulnerable to the novel coronavirus.

“We all agree that food and drug stores are essential services and we must do what we need to in order to keep them operating and serving every community in the days and weeks ahead,” he wrote in a statement. Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart aren’t the only retailers offering extended hours for seniors and those with special needs.that all of their locations, except for the one inside the Eaton’s Centre, would open early for the elderly and those at a higher risk of infection.

Well, health risks aside, maybe it'll give these folks a bit more comfort too .. saw a number of individuals having to stand back , as the fleet of foot, devoured the stock ..

Val Rennie roxeesplace No Frills is giving seniors and disabled 8-12 Mon Wed Fri. The majority in Elliot Lake are seniors and disabled. They move slowly and an hour is not enough. Kudos to nofrills

Fucking people still got to find something wrong with something good. If you are bitching on here about it then you have access to a computer. Walmart, Superstore and a few other places can order online and go pickup. get it delivered. only problem is its hard to hoard online

i have a question: why does it take psac_afpc PSACNCR 5 years to negotiate an expired 4 year contract with JustinTrudeau's treasury board of Canada ? PS: i found TP today in ottawacity Questions coronavirus ToiletPaperPanic ottnews Otttraffic toiletpaper

Solidarity in community.

The elderly and disabled should be top priority first......❤️❤️🇨🇦🙏

The elderly shouldn’t even leave their homes. Groceries shud be delivered to them, it’s unsafe for them to be out! Everyone shud Order ur groceries online and they will get delivered to you!

More stores should do this

Oh boy, now people are offended by the wording. Can we put the PC sensitivities aside during a crisis, please. Just for a moment, don’t go looking to be offended. If the rules of these shopping hours apply to you, you can use it.

I live in a small community and one of our grocery stores is offering free delivery for people who need it. I think this is a great idea!

CTVNationalNews Keep in mind that not all seniors find it easy to wake up so early to go to the stores or can't manage. SO if a senior needs help offer to shop for them at regular times. Help those who may have mobility issues or are vulnerable.

Given the number of people I have seen behaving like ignoramuses I think this is a great idea

How about calling it 'high risk shopping hour' because I'm in my 30's & need to go during limited contact shopping hours to reduce my risk as a immunocompromised person

The grocery stores should also be putting 'limit per customer' on items 😠

Opinion: Why the coming battle over Canadian privacy reform starts at homeWhile many may expect opposition to tougher privacy rules to come from large internet companies such as Facebook, a recent report from the Business Council of Canada suggests that a bigger barrier may come from banks, airlines, retailers, insurance providers and telecom giants globebusiness Frankly, I think getting someone's personal info on the internet should be stopped. Unlisted numbers used to give privacy, but that luxury is gone. However, history research is also a concern. Research can't occur because of these laws blocking access to 100 year old records.

Health officials explain why not everyone can get swabbed for COVID-19 right nowCanada's top public health officer says supply limitations are forcing COVID-19 testing centres 'to be smart' about who they can assess for the respiratory illness while Health Canada rushes to approve commercial testing kits. Because the lack of government response has been terrible. It took Justins own wife getting infected for him to start taking it seriously. Hopefully now he gets it that China is not our friend but it's too little too late, the virus is here. Unacceptable We all know that’s because lack of test capacity, what the hell is the government do for the past 2 month since Wuhan locked down.

Why draconian measures may not work: Two experts say we should prioritize those at risk from COVID-19 than to try to contain the uncontainableTesting and tracking down contacts is ultimately futile for this virus, as it devotes enormous resources to finding cases that are largely mild and spontaneously resolving Last week Apple announced stores would re-open in China (6-8 weeks after being closed). Later this week, they closed stores everywhere else in the world. Why are we reinventing the wheel - let’s try something that worked. It's not about containment. Containment was out the window in December when the Chinese Communists suppressed the outbreak It's about mitigating the impact to the healthcare system. We can't prioritize anything when hospitals are at 200% capacity & already desperately understaff JustinTrudeau screwed this up bigley. Liberalism is obviously destroying Canada. We need real leadership but never from a Liberal again! TrudeauWorstPM
