Premier David Eby makes an announcement in Vancouver on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022.fast-track program for internationally licensed doctorsEby will make an announcement on health-care training and be joined by Health Minister Adrian Dix and Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Training Anne Kang at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby at 1 p.m.
B.C. will also add a news “associate physician” class under the College of Physicians and Surgeons that will allow international medical graduates not eligible to be fully or provisionally licensed to obtain registration. The quickest change will come in just a few weeks as the College updates its bylaws to allow doctors trained in the United States for three years to practise in community settings in B.C. like urgent and primary care centres, community clinics and family practices.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.The announcement comes after the province reached an agreement with organizations representing B.C.
