SIOUX LOOKOUT — A resident of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation has been remanded into custody on drug and weapons-related charges after being arrested on Canada Day.
OPP reported Tuesday that they commenced an investigation after receiving information that cocaine was being trafficked from Thunder Bay into the remote fly-in community 600 kilometres north of the city.After obtaining a warrant, police conducted a search at a local residence and seized a variety of items including suspected cocaine, a firearm, ammunition, prohibited alcohol, cell phones, laptop computers, an undisclosed sum of Canadian currency, and an ATM machine.
The 28-year-old accused man is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
