Driver in deadly Mimico crash had a suspended license, police say

Police say that the driver, a 36-year-old man, was headed east in a 2020 Cadillac XT6 when he was involved in a “minor collision” with a parked van.

They say that several bystanders attempted to provide assistance, smashing the vehicle’s window in order to gain access to the driver. At the same time, a 75-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman were in a crosswalk at Lake Shore Boulevard West and Superior Avenue.

Bureaucracy killed these people. Where's the news story on the total failure of thinking that a licence suspension is any kind of deterrent/effective?

Police should have have been on scene of the first collision to intercept the driver and none of this would have happened. Doesn’t matter if he had a license in good standing or not.

People are acting like all he has was a provincial suspension. He also had a federal criminal code driving prohibition. The guy was a convicted criminal who was given access to a vehicle by someone who is also responsible for these deaths, and his.
