Sportsnet has confirmed that Don Cherry has been fired from Hockey Night in Canada over recent remarks that caused uproar.
“Sports brings people together — it unites us, not divides us,” the statement from Bart Yabsley, Sportsnet president, said. “Following further discussions with Don Cherry after Saturday night’s broadcast, it has been decided it is the right time for him to immediately step down. “We’re proud of diverse cultural heritage and we’ll always stand up for it,” she said on Twitter. “New immigrants enrich our country for the better. We’re all Canadians and wear our poppies proudly.”
“The CBSC has received a large number of very similar complaints concerning Coach’s Corner broadcast on CBC on November 9, 2019, exceeding the CBSC’s technical processing capacities,” the CBSC said on its website.

He said “new” immigrants were t wearing poppies. Cherry was not accurate in saying what he did and the same also applies to many Canadians- but he’s brought up a good point of discussion for all Canadians just like our PM’ Blackface....why nail him when Trudeau got a pass?

What was inaccurate in Cherry's comments? Fewer people purchase poppies (fact) and he is a strong promoter of respecting or veteran. 'You people' who do not purchase poppies were the people he was speaking to, I thought. Did you buy a poppy? I did. As did my wife.
