Doctors in Alberta are demanding the provincial government take swift action to address the crisis facing pediatric hospitals and to be more accountable to the public.

Both of Alberta's pediatric hospitals have been struggling with ballooning ER visits and admissions for weeks."Right now we're still well over 100 per cent and that has been sustained through November and into … December," said Margaret Fullerton, senior operating officer at the hospital., staff are being pulled from five of the facility's 82 outpatient clinics.

A total of 65 staff members — many of them part-time — have been redeployed, but Fullerton didn't know how may children would be impacted. At the Stollery Children's Hospital, a six-bed unit that was used temporarily for adult care has been returned to pediatric care. Seven more beds are expected to open in the coming weeks.

"[It's] pure chaos. [It's] kind of disaster-mode even now," said Dr. Paul Parks, an ER physician based in Medicine Hat, Alta., who checks in with his colleagues around the province daily. "It's been deafening how quiet or lacking the response has been. And that's really, really hard for health-care workers out there that are seeing all the suffering," said Parks, noting that when adult hospitals were overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, public health officials held regular news conferences to keep people informed.Dr. Paul Parks is an emergency room physician in Medicine Hat, Alta.

She's also calling for a high profile campaign promoting influenza and COVID-19 vaccination and wants the province to restore the ability of school boards to make their own decisions on mask mandates."I would like to see the science followed and I would like to see school boards at a local level to be able to react to the situations that they have,"said Mithani.

If you only read the CBC you’d think this is only a problem in Alberta

Good luck with that ! You’ve got a denier !

Zero

Doctors have been lying to us.

Well how about the federal government send some money back for the health care system because just like Alberta absolutely every province has been trying to do the same.

Why no coverage on the anti Trudeau protest? In Surrey BC. CTVNews globalnews ? How's that government funding?

We need federal oversight for these provinces ppl are dying

Do they need the vouchers?

Now after you forced kids & everyone to wear muzzles & get 💉for 2 years, don't expect them to not have all these complications & cutting oxygen to their heart, brain and lungs. Humans are NOT meant to inhale back in the poison gas they expel, & the💉injuries are MUCH worse.

Wonder what happened in the last 2 years why people are allways sick now, doctors are baffled

It's rather suspect that Kid's Meds shortage is why the surge in pediatric visits. Might this be part of the plan? A component of resetting? If not, it is inefficient medical consultants, managers and administrators who are clearly the disposable part of the crumbled PH infrastrct

You don't need to take your child to the hospital for the flu. Yes, the flu can be unpleasant, life is unpleasant sometimes. Have some chicken noodle soup and watch some cartoons, it'll be over in a couple days. No need to overreact.

The government should absolutely be more accountable to the public since legally it’s the doctors, hospitals and nurses that are liable when patients are harmed because of substandard care. The government must give healthcare providers the right tools to do their job.

All stories from media outlets receiving funding from the government need to have a warning attached. 'This article might be biased since we receive funding from the government'

Le gouvernement ne fournit pas de services sociaux aux femmes dont les cheveux sont visibles. Ceci est une tromperieThere are rapes, executions and torture in prisons. The end of morality patrol is a media hoax. IranRevolution MahsaAmini مهسا_امینی

same docs who want us all jabbed? same docs who get $$$$ for every jab? same hypocrite docs as the SUPREME HYPOCRITE NightShiftMD

Looks like firing all those nurses and doctors for not taking a jab is really workout out. Canada

Pc govt has been slowly cutting money over the years in Alberta ( even before covid) to try to manipulate us into thinking private would be better ….. so many countries are envious of what we have for health care &education &upc want to purposely make those fail ….

People are witnessing the collapse of healthcare but don’t realize it.

Seems to be a common denominator here. Perhaps it's the chimeras. You know, the ones that trusted the science and now have altered DNA.

Alberta’s police watchdog says man shot by RCMP on First Nation has died of injuriesAlberta Serious Incident Response team says in a news release that the man died Saturday 'ASIRT says it’s looking for people who may have witnessed the confrontation between the man and police.' Inexcusable in 2022. I think investing in police dash cams and body cams would really help tell a story/the truth.
