That’s my way of saying that this Preston Street eatery, which opened in mid-June, may call itself a French bistro even while its dishes are usually more loosely inspired than authentic. If there was an Office de la cuisine française, one of its inspectors might have issues with VIV, as the restaurant also abbreviates itself.Article content
But this time out, I’m inclined to look the other way. In VIV’s favour: the dishes from its compact and vegetable-forward menu were tasty and affordable. We had two light and pleasant dinners this month, and I think VIV is worth considering if you’re looking for a relaxed place for small-plate or sweet-tooth indulgences that won’t break the bank.
. They are, in fact, both owned by Hind Mubarak Brown, and both venues, one ostensibly French and the other nominally British, share similarly inviting vibes.Article content
