“We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently said that if migrants from Haiti end up in Florida, he is open to sending them to the island of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. Of course,Gov. Ron DeSantis suggested Tuesday that Florida could sponsor a new wave of migrant flights, this time using the controversial state-funded program to transport Haitians who enter the U.S. after fleeing the chaos unfolding in the island nation.

“We do have our transport program also that’s going to be operational,” the Republican governor said. “Haitians land in the Florida Keys, their next stop very well may be Martha’s Vineyard.” The panel discussion was titled “Subtle Acts of Microaggression.” Moderator Carole Copeland Thomas, president and CEO of C. Thomas and Associates, described microaggressions as the everyday slights, insults, invalidations, and offensive behaviors directed toward members of marginalized groups by people who might or might not be conscious of what they are doing and saying.

Among the topics were how to recognize microaggressions, how to respond, and who should be responsible for taking a stand.
